I still needed shoes for tonight's event at the Vinings Gallery...oh my. Arrived at the Vinings gallery and walked the red carpet.

What a reception! We dined at "Just Loafin" now that's a Hotlanta spot to remember!!! We also met the "Queen of Hearts" our pick up rider.

We meet sweet tea of Georgia Buffalo Soldiers at exit 115 (Sugar Hill ...wonder how Suga Soldier got them to name so many places after her) and into the Clarion we rode. It was too hot to do too much but get to the rooms. We had survived our first day of Hotlanta. Yes Chase who was sitting in the air conditioned vehicle was the gentleman and insisted we all go to our rooms and get settled while he delivered our gear.

Great guy...think I'll keep him.

Greensboro, NC -- Women are hitting the road to battle breast cancer. "Divas for a Cure" rolled into Greensboro Wednesday night.

The women ride thier Harley's around the country to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. Their tour includes stops in Atlanta, Louisville, and Boston. They'll wrap up their tour July 31st in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

They want women to be proactive about their health.

Milaukee, WI-- Harley-Davidson is proud to sponsor this year's annual Divas For A Cure (DFAC) Breast Cancer Motorcycle Run.

DFAC is a service based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising cancer awareness through early detection, education, screenings and supporting research for eradicating cancer.

This year's Breast Cancer Motorcycle Run will take place from mid July to early August.

The goal for this year is to raise $100,000. Last year, DFAC raised $50,000.

On Wednesday, July 16th these group of riders will make a stop in Greensboro.

They will be at the Harley Shop on Farragut Street. The reception starts at 5pm-7pm.The "Divas" will be joined by local Harley Riders and Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes. The ride will include DFAC Founder and President of the organization Jan Emanuel-Costley, Vice-President Aj Coffee, Cynthia Marcy and Elaine Thomas.

The 6,000 mile ride departed from Brown Mills, NJ to the official kick-off city of Atlanta.

The ride continues from Atlanta to Canada, Canada to the National Bikers Roundup in Pennsylvania, down the East Coast and finally returning back to Atlanta.

Barb's Harley-Davidson kicked off the Divas For A Cure Breast Cancer Motorcycle Run 2008 at their dealership with a Dj spinning everything from Rock, R&B and Soul to County music. The local fire department was on the grill cooking up tasty burgers and hot-dogs with lots of sweet tea and lemonade. It was a wonderful day with an amazing group of people. Many of Barb's customers came out to show their support. The staff at Barb's Harley-Davidson are simply fantastic! It goes without saying that when called upon, you can count on the Buffalo Soldiers. The New Jersey Buffalo Soldiers rolled in 40+ strong lead by Jan Emanuel-Costley, Founder & President of DFAC, TC Costley, National President of the NABSTMC, and Nate Gundy, President - NJBSMC. We had a wonderful day and raised $1,100 with all of your support.

When most of us hear the word "diva" we imagine Diana Ross or Celine Dion waltzing out on a stage.

Well, the Divas For A Cure are a group of outstanding performers in their own right. These Divas are preparing for their third year of riding across the country on motorcycles to raise funds for breast cancer research. Divas For A Cure (DFAC) is a service-based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising cancer awareness through early detection, education, screenings and supporting research for eradicating cancer.

“This year the Divas For A Cure Breast Cancer Motorcycle Run will take place from mid July to early August and will involve travel that will take the core group of riders from Atlanta to Canada, Canada to the East Coast, and then wind back to Atlanta. The Divas raised $25,000 and $50,000 the first two years of the ride and hope to raise $100,000 this year which will benefit The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

After the ride, we will bring the money to Houston,” said Jan Emanuel-Costley, DFAC founder, “I just couldn’t imagine going anywhere else if I had a choice.”

Organizers selected M. D. Anderson to receive the funds after working very closely with Vickie Shannon, M.D. Anderson professor of Pulmonary Medicine. Shannon was asked by organizers to be their sponsor at M. D. Anderson.

She had not met the fundraising Divas until they arrived at M. D. Anderson last year with their second donation.

“I walked outside here on a Saturday and there was this group of beautiful African-American people wearing black leather,” said Shannon, “This was very different than what M. D Anderson was used to.”

Shannon added that she expected to see donors in three piece suits and stockings. Divas For A Cure changed that stereotype for Shannon. “It just goes to show you that donations come in from all walks of life and from all different kinds of people,” she said, “Sometimes, they come in riding on motorcycles.”

Emanuel-Costley started the nonprofit through encouragement from her boss. Emanuel-Costley went through a personal experience of successfully surviving two tumors in her head and one in her chest. Forming this grassroots organization was a way to channel some of her anger associated with that experience as well as to heal from the loss of her Aunt Mary who died in 2000 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. DFAC strives to reach and educate all communities about breast cancer, she said.

“We try to make sure we are reaching out to all communities, especially the African American and Hispanic communities,” said Emanuel-Costley.

These communities, who actually have the highest incidence rate for breast cancer, she added, tend to be less informed about the disease than white women. “I have met a lot of women at church and other places who have had breast cancer but don’t talk about it,” she said, “I have had so many women come identify with us because we look like them.”

This year’s ride will kick off on July 19 in Atlanta, and it will take 18 days to complete the 5,010-mile journey. The riders will spend about 14 of those days on the ground, will average about 300 to 500 miles a day and will be in the saddle for approximately eight hours a day, said Emanuel-Costley. During the motorcycle run the Divas are scheduled to take part in the Annual National Bikers Roundup held this year in Pennsylvania.

The core group of riders is made up of three Divas who will be accompanied by road captains from the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers Motorcycle Club. Members of local Buffalo Soldier chapters will escort the riders in and out of their major stopping points. Group and pick-up riders can meet and ride along with the DFAC core riders at any point in the route for a $35 registration fee. As a New Jersey high school student in 1976, Elaine Thomas terrified her father when she bought her first motorcycle, a Kawasaki, from a neighbor.

Since then, Thomas, now a Nazareth resident retired from the Department of Corrections, has always owned a two-wheel steel horse. Her current ride is a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.

Thomas is one of the Divas For A Cure, four women leading a volunteer nonprofit effort to raise both public awareness on breast cancer and funding for research to find a cure. Like Thomas, the other three Divas are motorcyclists.

This will be her first year taking part in the Divas' annual Breast Cancer Motorcycle Run, a 6,000-mile round-trip ride, starting July 19, from Morrow, Ga., to Ontario, Canada, and back again.

The Divas stop at various Harley-Davidson dealerships and other locations along their route, distributing literature and information about breast cancer, warning signs and the importance of getting breast exams early. They also invite other motorcyclists to ride with them in support of the cause for however far the others want to ride.

"I'm so excited about this ride I can't think straight," said Thomas. "It's a chance to do something I enjoy doing for a purpose and to honor the memories of those I've lost (aunt and grandmother) to breast cancer."

Thomas, whose Diva nickname is "Hunter," joined the organization after meeting Divas founder Jan "Sunny" Emanuel-Costley in Maryland during an interstate road trip with friends. Soon after, she met fellow Divas A.J. "Suga Soldier" Coffee and Cynthia "Chicago" Marcy.

Each Diva has her own fundraising page on the Web sites, www.divasforacure.org and www.realdivasride.com, which direct visitors on pledging tax-deductible donations.

"We have sort of a (friendly) competition going between the four of us to see who can raise the most," Thomas said, smiling.

Last year's effort raised a total of $50,000, which went to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas. The Divas aim to top that amount this year.

The Divas will make two stops on the way down to Morrow, Ga., from where the annual benefit round-trip ride starts July 19. The first will be July 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at Barb's Harley-Davidson in West Collingswood Heights, N.J., and the next will be July 16 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Harley-Davidson of Greensboro in Greensboro, N.C.

Thomas also is a probationary member of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club's Pocono Mountains chapter.

The club, which has chapters in communities across the country, honors the memory of the Buffalo Soldiers, an all-African-American military unit formed by the federal government after the Civil War and credited with helping civilize the western frontier. The club serves as a social network, with its chapters involved in community volunteer work and fundraisers to support various causes.

Buffalo Soldiers club chapters will escort the Divas and any other motorcyclists riding with them as they pass from state to state.

"We pay all trip-related expenses for ourselves, including nightly hotel stays, out of our own pockets," Thomas said. "That's a total of more than 20 hotel stays for the entire trip. We make anyone else who rides along with us aware that they will have to pay their own way."

As they do every year, the Divas will have a driver following them, towing a trailer equipped for emergencies such as breakdowns or accidents. This year, the driver will be Thomas' husband, Les Thomas, who also is a motorcyclist.

"I feel so enthusiastic about this trip," Elaine Thomas said. "I just look forward to the camaraderie of people riding together and doing it for a cause."

It was a wonderful feeling to roll into Oakland and be greeted by the Clorox Corporation and Pine-Sol, along with family and friends. Pine-Sol presented us with a check for $10,000.00, and a full-page feature in the October edition of Essence Magazine. Pine-Sol has also agreed to donate 21 mammograms to an organization of our choice right here in our community!



We arrived at approximately 6:00 PM and didn't have time to stop to clean off the road-dirt, freshen-up or change clothes. We are sun burnt, sore and exhausted but happy. I officially road from Oakland to Maryland and back to Oakland making numerous fundraising stops along the way and logging in 6969 miles.

No and I'm not quite finished. Aj Jemison currently lives in Los Angeles road back with me to Oakland for the Pine-Sol presentation and I will ride with her half-way back to Los Angeles on August 12, 2007. I don't think I will ride much for a few weeks. My butt need a break!

We all rose early, well aware that our 2007 adventure was coming to a close. Aj drove our escort 90 miles back to Victorville to retrieve his motorcycle, and Miss Vickie departed Los Angeles ahead of the group to arrive to Oakland in time for a celebration hosted by her husband. The remaining Divas (Aj Jemison, Claudia Lile and Jan Emanuel) departed Los Angeles before noon, separating approximately 60 miles outside of Oakland to make the two events (Clorox Corporation and Gloria's
Leathers) being held in Oakland. The end of a journey that has changed the lives of all of us had finally arrived! Later in the evening Jan and Aj joined Claudia at Miss Vickie's home to wish Vickie a Happy Birthday and reminisce over the previous three weeks.

The Anthony Pollard Foundation hosted a Meet & Greet for the Divas upon our arrival in Las Vegas. Diane Pollard (a childhood friend of Aj) was a gracious hostess providing food, soft drinks and music to celebrate the accomplishments of the riders. Divas For A Cure hung out with Sandra Jackson (A Breast Cancer Survivor and supporter) along with friends and family. Although the crowd was small, we had a great time, concluding the evening with some line dancing in the parking lot of the shopping center.

ABC's Robin Roberts: 'I Have Breast Cancer'

Share I never thought I'd be writing this. ... I have breast cancer.

It all started a few weeks ago. We had gotten the news that our dear colleague and friend Joel Siegel had passed away and we began preparing for our special tribute show for him. I did a piece about Joel's courageous battle with cancer, reporting on the way my friend had lived his life and been such a successful advocate for the importance of early cancer screenings.

That very night when I went to bed, I did a self breast exam and found something that women everywhere fear: I found a lump.

At first I thought, "This can't be. I am a young, healthy woman." Nevertheless, I faced my fear head on and made an appointment to see the doctor. Much as I was hoping the doctor would say it was nothing, she did a biopsy and confirmed that the lump I'd found was indeed an early form of breast cancer.

Hearing the doctor say those words out loud was surreal.

I will be having surgery shortly and follow-up treatment in the months to come. So in the coming months, you will probably notice that I will have my good days and my bad days, but I know I will get through it with the love and support of my family and friends. Diane, Sam, Chris and all of the folks behind the scenes who make this program come to life each and every morning have been so supportive and loving at this challenging time.

To you, our viewers, please know that your thoughts and prayers very much sustain me as they always have each and every morning when I sit in the chair next to Diane and say "Good Morning America." You have always been there for me … and I love you back.

And like my good friend Joel, I can't stress enough how important it is to get screened and checked for all cancers — and to do self breast exams. I am so blessed that I found this in the early stages and the prognosis is so promising that my doctor expects me to be flying planes and hanging on to submarines in the middle of the Atlantic and scaling the Mayan Pyramids in no time in the mornings to come.

Now I join the ranks of millions of Americans who are fighting this same battle each and every day. I appreciate YOUR courage and YOUR example. Thank you for showing me the way.

"Rain, rain, go AWAY!"

Felipe, President of BSMC-MD and Ghostrider met us for kickstands up at 8:15 to escort us to Ohio.

It was an overcast day when we departed hotel, then the clouds opened and the rain began to fall. Of the 500 mile journey, we spent at least 250 in wet weather. But our rain suits could not prepare us for the hail that clobbered us as we passed through the mountain of Maryland. It felt like walnut size rocks being thrown, and for those riding without a face shield, there we left over marks on their lips and nose! We sought shelter and found it after reducing our speed to about 15 miles per hours, continuing to roll to the next exit. Visibility was limited to the lights on the bike directly in front of us, despite the fact it was 11 in the morning. The worst of the weather conditions passed within 20 minutes, and we mounted up and headed on our way, with rain constant for several more miles off and on until we reached Ohio. But we made it!!!

Finally checking in before 7:30pm, we were all looking forward to a good night sleep and a 6:30am kickstand up for the next morning.

DAY 7 SATURDAY 28 JULY 07 (APPROX 250 MILES)

Joining the other Soldiers and two members of the Road Divas, we were led through Virginia to Southern Maryland by Freckles, member of the BSMC Chapter, meeting up with more Road Divas as we entered Maryland. Lucki, one of the Road Divas experienced a problem with her bike on the expressway, but we all pulled over and waited until she was back on the road.

The DFAC core group Divas were loaned the white vests of Road Diva members to roll up to the picnic area at Hillantrae Park in full regalia. With at least 100 family and friends waiting and cheering, we were warmly and emotionally welcomed by the officers and members of the Road Divas of Distinction Motorcycle Associateon of MD/VA/DC stylishly dressed in black and white.

The sisterhood was geniune and tearful, including support by the Karamel Divas and the Chocolate City Divas. Brother M/C clubs that came out to show their support included the Band of Brothers M/C of MD and DC, Second II None of Landover, MD, Down N Dirty, World Wide Rydaz, and the Buffalo Soldiers MC of Maryland, Rhode Island, Oklahoma and So. Maryland. Sista Soulja (Road Divas) gave a moving rendition of "I Won't Complain", accompanied by Rhode Runner (Pres. BSMC Rhode Island) before departing to return to Atlanta on her trike. Mia, a very special person in Sunny's life that helped her during her first recovery drove hours with her husband and young son to be with her as she arrived for the picnic. It was a beautiful day filled with love, laughter and fellowship.

We meet up with Sista Soulja and Professor Wash from the Road Divas of Distinction Motorcyle Club. We were so exhausted from the ride, heat and long days that we went to bed early, so as to prepare for a long ride the next day. The Roanoke Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club met up with us on the way to provide escort into their city.

We were surprised to find three local televisions stations were waiting to interview us at the Harley-Davidson Dealership. The Meet & Greet was coordinated by one of our Lady Soldiers "Dot" who is also a member of the Lady's of Harley, HOG Riders Association and the Roanoke Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. A check for $2,000 was presented by Travelin Man, President of the Roanoke Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club.

After the check presentation, introductions and open discussion - we were hosted in the homes of the BSMC Members for a descent night sleep and to do laundry.

If you haven't been to Bike Night on Beale Street in Memphis - you are in for a real treat. Lots of people mingling, hanging out, listening to live music and checking out the custom motorcycles.

We setup the DFAC trailer on Beale Street directly across from the podium, where we were able to meet and chat with 100's of folks and bikers about our cross-country adventure. We sold our DFAC merchandise and even had an opportunity to meet several breast cancer survivors who came down after hearing about us from the motorcycle community and local media.

As luck would have it - - before departing from Memphis headed for Knoxville, we were also interviewed live on TV at the Peabody Place Mall.

We were beginning to settle into the ride and get comfortable with the long days. The weather was

hot and humid, nonetheless the ride was wonderful. We arrived in Oklahoma City and was greeted by Warrior, Vice President of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. As we rolled into the gas station a CBS camera man recorded footage and a brief interview to forward to Tulsa to air that evening.

We stopped by the Buffalo Soldiers Oklahoma City Club House were we grabbed a bite to eat, quickly changed clothes and then rushed off to the Meet & Greet at the Greenwood Cultural Center in Tulsa, OK. On the way to the event we got caught in a brief down-pour and was drenched but fortunately our PrivacyWear is wash and wear, so we were almost dry upon arrival.

There were several hundred people in attendance at the Tulsa event including State Senator Judy Eason-McIntyre (a breast cancer survivor) who presented a proclamation on behalf of the Mayor's Office and the State Senate. We were interviewed by two local networks. See Below...

The mistress of ceremony was Alberta Jones (a breast cancer survivor) and hosted by Martha Vaughan (KJMZ Radio) and sponsored by PrivacyWear. There was a fashion show and health fair along with food, fun and family.

DAY 2 MONDAY 23 JULY 07 (APPROX 420 MILES)

Today was a good day. We made great time as we traveled from Flagstaff toSanta Rosa, NM.We are still traveling down famous Route 66 - the Desert, the mountains andthe sky give birth to a new meaning of "Freedom."

There is so much to see when riding on a motorcycle that you would otherwisemiss in a car and a lot of time to think!You should see the faces of some of the men when we roll by them on ourmotorcycles. Women also give us a "Big Thumbs Up," which is a wonderfulgesture, especially once they realize why we are on this journey. We get somuch love on the road from everyone for 5 to 85!

It rained on us the last 1.5 hours of the way until we arrived at the Grand Canyon outside of Flagstaff, AZ

We met another cancer survior and retired veteran on our journey. We were greeted by many well wishers the many gas stops, who were admiring the bikes and the beautiful DFAC & PrivacyWear trailer. It was an awesome day!

It was awesome to see 36 Motorcycle Escorts rolling down the freeway to lead us into Los Angeles on July 21, 2007. We arrive to over 100 bikers waiting to greet us. There were several hundred bikers in attendance and the evening was covered live by V100 Radio Station.

Another Angel got her wings... "Lucye R. Hicks"

Lucye R. Hicks, 82, died at 4:20am Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the home of her son Steven and daughter-in-law Peggy after a short illness. Born October 5, 1924 in Kinloch, Missouri, one of six daughters of Franklin and Bertha (Farmer) Pringle. Lucye married Andrew A. Hicks on November 24, 1950 in Rockford. She was employed by the United States Postal Service, Valspar Paint, and was a homemaker to her own boys along with helped to take care of other foster children.

She was a faithful member of the Miles Memorial CME Church. Serving numerous positions as Stewardess, Missionary, Board of Christian Education, Pastor Anniversary Committee, Membership and Evangelist Committee, and a host of other ministry positions.

She was a member in good standing and dedicated worker for the Balhasar Assembly #69 Order of the Golden Circle P.H.A. A former member of Princess Zorah Chapter #20 O.E.S./P.H.A.

Lucye touched many lives and was loved and respected by all that met her. She cherished her time with her family and friends, and pets and was always first to lend a helping hand to someone in need or to send a card to friends who were sick or shut-in. Lucye loved to read, shop, and attend church. She always believed in giving back to the community and was an inspiration to everyone she met. A two-time breast cancer survivor, she was active in raising donations and helping raise awareness for Breast Cancer Prevention, and at the age of 81 participated in the DIVAS FOR A CURE Breast Cancer Awareness rally in Rockford last summer. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and many acquaintances around the country.

Survivors include her two sons, David Hicks of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Steven (Peggy) Hicks of Rockford. Grand-daughters, Alexis Hicks of St. Paul, Minnesota and Lauren Chapple of Rockford., sisters Gloria Umbles of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Frances Thomas of St. Louis, MO, and Bertha Fantroy of Kirkwood, MO .

Predeceased by her husband, mother, father, two sisters and a number of aunts, uncles, and nephews.
For the many friends and family who visited her during her final months. Your visits meant the world to her. To the administrators, doctors, counselors, RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s of Rockford Visiting Nurses and Odessey Health Care Hospice, a grateful thank you for easing her passage. A special thanks to Alberta Primm, Mary Webb, Gladyis Kelly, Pastor Montel Putney, Pastor Joseph Gordon, and Kendra England for your kindness to Lucye.

Service will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Miles Memorial CME Church, 1035 Michigan Ave, Rockford, IL 61102, with Pastor Joseph Gordon officiating. Internment in Sunset Memorial Gardens at 8800 North Alpine Road, Rockford, IL 61111. Visitation will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, July 10th, at Miles Memorial CME Church.

The American Cancer Society held a Relay For Life Bay Area

The American Cancer Society held a Relay For Life Bay Area (Baytown) event April 27-28, 2007. The event was an overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer. The event celebrated survivorship and raised money to help ACS in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. During the event, teams of people gather to take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. The Relay was a time to remember those lost to cancer and to celebrate those who have survived and for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another. During the event, survivors were honored during the Survivors Lap. The event is a celebration, remembrance, and hope by participation to honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives lost to the disease, and raise money to help the fight. The event started at 6:00pm with the survivor walk and ended at 8:00 the next morning.

300 Cancer Survivors were recognized and honored by presenting each of them with a Survivorship Medal as their name was announced. After each survivor received their medal they walked one victory lap around the track with their family and friends and were greeted and cheered by each team as they made the lap. Some of the teams handed out mementos to all of the survivors.

Lighting the Way to a Cure! When the sun went down, hundreds of luminaries lit the track. There was a moment of silence during the ceremony of hope. Luminaries are glowing bags that represent people, each with a name and a story to tell. The ceremony of hope was one of the most moving events in the Relay for me. Everyone gathers around to remember those lost to cancer, support those fighting cancer, and rejoice with those who have fought the disease and won. There were 7100 Luminaries which lined the track that were "In Memory Of" survivors. The names of each individual who received luminaries were announced during the ceremony. There was also a Memory Wall with names of individuals who lost the battle to cancer!

The 2007 Goal for the event was $550,000 and The Grand Total for the event is $789,459.50.

My individual goal was $1,000.00 and my total is $1,980.00 which was collected in a matter of a few weeks.

The (Baytown) Bay Area Relay is the No. 1 of its kind in the state.
The entire event was AMAZING!

This event is an effort to making a change, and to have the power to keep others from loosing their battles with cancer, until the day a cure is found!

Mission Accomplished!

We are pleased to announce the mission was accomplished. We arrived safely to Oakland, CA at 5:45 PM on Monday, August 14, 2006!

DFAC made all of it's sponsored stops, dealership obligations, honored it's commitments, made every stop on the Official 2006 DFAC Published Route and one extra - - on time! The cumulative total for donations collected has not yet been tallied but are estimated at approximately $25,000.

We were interviewed by more than 6 television networks, several different newspapers, and several radio stations and also filmed three short documentaries with independent video producers at and/or near the NBR in Florida. We also recorded a Breast Cancer Awareness Podcast with TrimCom & Swedish American Medical Foundation, soon to be released to the internet.

The ride was long (8,593 miles) and hot (temperatures ranging from 90 -120 degrees, rain, thunder and lightening storms, and even hail).

Aj Jemison completed her committment to ride the 1st leg of the run (San Francisco to Florida) and fly back to California. She continues to champion the cause and is currently organizing fundraising efforts on behalf of DFAC.

Bob started his journey in Newark, NJ and road all the way to San Francisco, CA to ride with DFAC on our cross country mission and ended his route with DFAC in New York.

Update (08/15/06):

I want to thank each and every one of you that said prays and positive messages regarding my diagnosis. The devil was busy but God and His hands are more powerful and today I am cancer free. I am now scheduled for reconstruction (I have no breast now) and will be presenting the ladies shortly. Sesamestreet

As one who respects your mission, and as a rider who has completed a few long distance runs, I feel compelled to say "hello it has been about 5-6 days since you started out", and to share with you as to how my frustrations were increasing about this time on my journey.

It must have been a combination of the high temperatures, rain,wind, anxiety, and the testosterone(there were no females with us, if there had been females, perhaps estrogen and progesterone would have been present). To make a long story short, we got so caught up in ourselves, that we almost lost sight of our mission. It was not about us, but about the mission.

You are on a noble mission, and I am sure that there are others who are waiting to hear of the success of your run, because they want to join in with you next year, myself included. So go girls and guys do the run, bring home the results, pictures, stories and memories. Then get busy organizing for next year. This can be as big as Rip's Diabetes Run. When organizing for next please include the Northeast, keep my email address. Settle into the saddle and ride.

Recently some of the core riders elected to leave the group. All things considered, there is no shame in not being able to make the complete ride. I applaud all of the original diva core riders for their effort to support this cause.

1. This is a long, rough ride and
2. There are rules in place for the safety of all involved.

The Divas have been though record-breaking heat, thunderstorms, and even hail storms. This certainly is not a vacation; there was no promise of fun. It is a sacrifice of extreme proportions; it is most definitely passion with a purpose.

The official slogan appropriately is -

"Do you have what it takes to ride with a Diva?"

I will quote Yoda (from Star Wars)

"You either do, or you do not, there is no try."

Those Divas who remain on this ride defiantly have what it takes. Period. There is no room for negative energy here. We are moving forward with purpose.

So, not to waste your time or mind, here are the rules of this Blog:

1. There is no need to hate – get over it.
2. Do not attempt to post anonymous-negative comments to this Blog, they will be laughed at and deleted.

So Divas, ride on! And know that you have our admiration, love and support.
